As defined, “freedom” means the quality or state of being free. It is the absence of necessity, coercion or constraint in choice or action. Freedom is liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another.

Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi once said, “Please use your freedom to promote ours.” The “freedom” shirt is an attempt to do just that; raise awareness about different kinds of coercion and constraint that continues to exist in the form of human trafficking. Partnering with SAFEHS, Students and Artists Fighting to End Human Slavery, we aim to do this by creating contexts and conversations where the injustices of modern-day slavery are exposed.
